The world doesn’t owe any of us a living. We need to get out and work! The Bible warns us in many places that laziness is wrong and people who continue that way are doomed to failure. On the other hand, those who are diligent and seek God’s wisdom will work hard and reap the benefits of a life that is pleasing to God.
Consider Paul’s advice to Timothy about taking care of family. Bottom line up front: a person who claims to be a Christian and doesn’t take care of his family is worse than an infidel- a pagan, unbeliever, etc.
As human beings, we certainly don’t need instruction on the many ways to stress out. We’re masters at doing this! What we’re not so good at is simply trusting God. He knows that you and I aren’t robots. He didn’t make us that way. We need time to sleep, to eat, and to rest—and to go on vacation every so often. We can’t keep working all the time.
Many of us like to exercise on a regular basis and that is great for your physical health. All of us could walk in the park more, play with the children outside more frequently, or just do yard work instead of paying someone else to do it.But you might not have thought that you should be exercising yourself toward godliness.Maybe you don’t even know where to begin.
