“…exercise yourself toward godliness.” 1 Timothy 4:7b
Many of us like to exercise on a regular basis and that is great for your physical health. All of us could walk in the park more, play with the children outside more frequently, or just do yard work instead of paying someone else to do it. But you might not have thought that you should be exercising yourself toward godliness. Maybe you don’t even know where to begin.
A good start would be to ask the Lord what that means to you. Another very helpful action is to examine your life. Are there things you should stop doing and better things you should start doing? Right living is the goal of the scripture above. As a Christian, you are clothed in the righteousness of Christ. Now it is time to start being a good witness by the way you act. Practice studying God’s Word and letting it change the way you live.
