More Than We Can Imagine

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, Ephesians 3:20 (NIV)

Imagination is a powerful capability and has certainly been the spark to enable mankind to accomplish many things. I find it to be mind-blowing when I think of space travel or the ability of scientists to produce a vaccine for COVID 19 in such a short time. As a 9-year-old living in Washington, DC, my Cub Scout pack visited a facility containing a giant computer that filled the entirety of a large room. Today, I’m told that the average smartphone possesses more computing power than that giant computer.  

The Apostle Paul, however, tells us that even our imaginations can’t conceive of all that God is capable of doing. Whatever we might ask God to do…He is able to do more. 

The truth of Ephesians 3:20 comes alive as we open our spiritual eyes to what God is doing in our personal lives…in big ways and even in the smaller ways. Recently Judy and I made a trip to Carlisle, Pennsylvania, to help our oldest son take care of his 4-year-old twins while our daughter-in-law took their daughter, Jillian, out of town for some medical testing. There wasn’t much wiggle room in our schedule to visit friends in the area. We found ourselves wanting to visit with two couples, but we only had time for one.  

When we arrived at a breakfast café to see one of the couples, both showed up! What were the odds that we’d see both couples that morning at the same time and same place? Coincidence? Not a chance. The odds had to be less than one in a million. We couldn’t make this happen, but God certainly did!

The lesson here? Don’t underestimate God’s awesome love and power. Look for His loving work in your lives. You’ll be amazed at what you discover!
